This piece was created as a birthday gift for a friend I met during the 2011 CCAD College Preview. Jess is now studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design and is shaping up to be a wonderful animator! She said her favorite color was teal, and her favorite animal was a fox, so I ran with it.
A christmas present made for my parents, who are big Downton Abbey fans. I digitally painted our cat Chester in period attire. This was a bit of a challenge and took some time!
This was a private commission for a person who wanted devotional imagery of a mythological figure. The figure in question is Loki, riding the famous multilegged Sleipnir horse! This was hand-painted in Adobe Photoshop CS6.
This was a commissioned piece from the owner of Snorkel Louise, a somewhat famous (or infamous?) Xoloitzcuintle dog. The client let me reference a puppy picture, and now uses this image as their avatar! I love this breed of dog, and I loved finding all the different color tones in the skin.
This image was painted as a Mother’s Day card for my own mother. It depicts our dearly departed cat Tiger as a kitten; we know his mother was a calico. This was a bit of a challenge – I think I got too caught up in the details – but I love how it turned out.
“Home.” A very personal piece that I painted late one friday night. I saw the vision in my head and just had to get it out. It stemmed from the feelings of longing for a loved one to return home safe. No references were used.
This was hand-painted in Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop CS6 as part of our Celebrity Illustration project, during senior year. I chose Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games because I really liked the pose and intensity in one of the advertisements. This was a real learning piece and helped me improve my people and painting skills tremendously.
