A colored pencil self portrait of myself with my grumpy cat Bandit. This placed in the Top 300 in the 2012 Ohio Governor's Show, and earned a Silver Key in the 2013 Scholastic Art and Writing awards; it also earned 2nd place in the 2013 Boehner Congressional Show!
I felt this drawing really enhanced my understanding of color. I worked on it on and off for a 3 week period, several hours a day. Tiring!
This was my entry for the Frame My Future Contest 2014 (http://www.diplomaframe.com/contests/frame-my-future-scholarship-contest-2014.aspx).
I did not make it to the final round (only 24 chosen out of over 6,000!) - but I am still proud of the work I made.
This piece represents my double major in Studio Art and Biology - inspired by a nest of Carolina Wrens I got to observe all the way to fledging last summer.
A self portrait in graphite that I completed in 2012. It went on to place in the Top 300 in the 2012 Ohio Governor's Show, as well as earning a Silver Key in the 2013 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
A colored pencil study based on a stock image of rocks provided in class.
A colored pencil still life completed over summer 2012. Very challenging! The entire thing is from observation, and in order to keep the perspective of the self portrait in the mirror consistent, I had to keep my right eye closed.

A marker drawing based on a coffee image found on Flickr - a gift for my barista boyfriend!
Charcoal figure drawing from observation.
